This engine is essentially a comprehensively rebuilt standard unit, with the additional feature of having the cylinder head inlet ports dressed to remove any casting marks, the exhaust ports are ported to 23mm diameter to give a better shape and multi angle valve seats machined.
Crankshaft reground and balanced as necessary, new bearings, oil pump, water pump and gaskets throughout.
Block chemically cleaned, rebored, painted in “NMS blue” and deck face machined to make flat. New pistons (usually Mahle), machined for 8.0:1 compression ratio, standard Focus RS con rods reconditioned, with new little end bushes and ARP rod bolts.
Cylinder head fully recondition with 16 new valve guides, valves refaced and refurbished, seats recut with multi-angles, ported as described above, fitted with Steel MLS headgasket, Standard cams refitted and re-shimmed, new cambelt and tensioner kit. (uprated cams can be fitted for increased high rpm power)
We normally use one of our thick walled tubular manifolds and a GT28/30 or T38 hybrid at this power level. Maximum safe rpm limit of 7200rpm.
